Rain, Rain Go Away!

Hi Guys!!! It's been raining her in NJ for a few days and when it rains I get very bored. However, it's not entirely a bad thing. While I do have an update on the dresser I've refinished for my daughter's room, I've also decided to update our Kicthen once more. But first things, first...

Excuse the two missing drawers, but they needed another coat. I decided to use a high gloss paint on this piece because it is in my daughters room, which means it will be super easy to clean and it makes it shine, which I will continue to do with her sleigh bed as well. The handles were very dull and I wasn't sure if I should buy new, then that little bulb went off, and I ran in the garage and grabbed a can of metallic two toned spray paint. They came out better than new!

We are all really happy with the way the room is turning out. Now we have to figure out where to store all those toys!

On to my rainy weekend task. If you haven't seen our Kitchen Renovation, you can view it here. Our cabinets are a light pickled oak and from the 10 years of polishing and cleaning them, they've started to dull a bit. Not to mention, the builder used lower grade cabinets. Don't get me wrong, they still look nice, but compared to the new designs, mine are boring. I have a really great painter friend who is going to transform my kitchen from dull oak cabinets to my very own version of the creamy white french kitchens I've been drooling over lately. Here's what we are going for:

I just looooove the creamy white paint with the mocha glaze.

This beadboard seems really easy to do. You can buy it in sheets of like 96" so it really lessens the chance of seems. We've done molding throughout the house so that'll be a cinch.

Here's an upclose shot of what glazing looks like. A bit antiqued. Lovely.

We'll be starting the beadboard tonight, so I'll keep you guys posted.

Finally, a dresser with character!

My hunt is finally over for a proper dresser. It would have been quite easy until I saw this dresser chest at a local antique shop. It really does require a bit of work, but the end result will pay off nicely.

I've already stripped most the this awful green paint and as soon as that is done, I will move on to sanding which to me is the most fun. Stay tuned...

New Pieces-Finally!

Here are some new pieces I've been working on.

This french provincial night stand, I scored for $35 at a local antique shop that I pass everyday day and finally decided to stop in. So glad I did.

The sides were gold, I changed it to silver. Im so happy with it.
I converted this antique guilded mirror in to framed chalkboard with some spray paint and ribbon.

More to come! Stay tuned.

Some new ideas for Christinas room...

I've decided that instead of going with the mirrored Hollywood Regency set from Pier One, I'd like to find a French Provicial dresser and refinish it. Upon my search, I cam across this baby.

Do you see how it doubles as a desk? I love it. I am going to check it out tomorrow and it just may come home with me. My question is, Do I leave it the Seaglass color-or do I do a distressed antique white to match her future bed, dresser and nightstand once I find them???

Spring is in the air!

It's so beautiful outside! I thought I'd share my garden with you. These pics are from last year, and since my yard is ever-evolving, I can't wait to see what this year looks like.

Master Bath: Step 1:COMPLETE

Im so glad that's finally accomplished!!! I finished staining my cabinets, which would have been a cinch had I not accidently used a Glossy Clear Coat instead of a Satin. therefore, I had to resand everything and redo the clear coat again, this time-in Satin. I definalty recommend this as a weekend project to revamp those blah or dated looking cabinets. Thsi quick fix cost me less than $50, and saved me hundreds on new cabinets. Here's the end result:

(This is similat to what they looked like before, minus those white knobs. Mine are Brushed Nickel)

After: I used a Bear stain right from my local Home Depot, after using an electric sander to take the original clear coat off. Super Easy!

Something you'll often read about

Thank god my husband is as greatof a man as he is, because I have more projects to start :)
Just before Christmas, my daughters decided they wanted their bedrooms redone (again). So this time, we are planning a Juicy Couture Boutique for Victoria. Christina on the other hand said she would like her bedroom to look like a hotel suite. Her only major request? Blue & Chocolate Brown Damask.

Here's my inspiration for both:

Victoria's Juicy Couture Boutique Bedroom

I'm thinking of refinishing her currently white dresser to resemble this green one. So Chic!

A must have: A Chandelier

We recently purchased a white bookcase from Target that is actually very nice looking with ribbed colomns, so adding the fabric should be a cinch.

And for Christina

I love how the upper portion is brown, and if you look closely, you can see the damask print stenciled on the wall. I have an excellent painter by the name of Daniel Mckuhan. I can;t wait to show him this. If you live in NJ and are looking for a great painter, contact me!

I haven't run this by my husband yet, and I'm sure he'd look at my like I have two heads, but I'd love to utlize Christina's closet as a desk space. Easy to change back if we decide to sell.

Christina's decided the brand new bunk beds we bought her in March just "aren't her". Luckily, as soon as I posted them for sale on facebook, I had a taker within minutes. The replacement just may be this gorgeous set from PierOne.
